The 2015 Rosé is a blend of three traditional Châteaunuef-du-Pape varietals—Grenache, Cinsault and Counoise—all grown on our Blackrock Estate Vineyard on the eastern edge of the Yakima Valley AVA. The individual blocks were harvested by hand in early September and loaded directly into the press while the clusters were still cold. A gentle and rapid press cycle helped to avoid excessive phenolic extraction from the skins, yielding a juice pale pink in color with delicate flavors and aromas. Fermentation was carried out at low temperatures in concrete and stainless steel tanks and continued until dry. After three months of maturation on lees, individual components were racked and blended to create a pure and vibrant rosé.
